january: i just got paged by work. but i am going back to bed. beginning the year as i mean to continue it-- sleep deprived and slightly nauseated.

february: in early 2007 i was stressed out of my mind.

march: Does this work?

april: please shut up and go away.

may: saturday was a good day.

june: i am home and tired and happy.

july: i am going to a local convention this weekend.

august: i appear to be lucky today; the part where staying up later and staring at my computer screen will not in fact make my life any closer to the way i want it to be has occurred to me now rather than at 3am.

september: most of my posts here are set to private, and they are set that way for a reason.

october: i hate snot.

november: so, josiedog is sick and likely to stay chronically sick, the adoption is moving but moving so slowly that i am having to take progress on faith, and there is some stuff going on jobwise that i would very much like to reach out and fix but am becoming resigned to the idea that the thing to do is hold off on fixing it until after godot is home. [note from now: oh, miss josiedog. still miss her.]

december: i just remembered i have some wishes.

in conclusion: mostly a good year. i do have the ability to write very long sentences, though.

i think this icon is from a picture from my 30th birthday party. whoa. need new picture.

--What did you do in 2010 that you'd never done before?

i'm going to choose a cheerful one for this one-- make doro wat and gomen wat. super tasty.

--Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

i made one, i mostly kept it, and i'm going to make it again. (regret things you did, rather than things you didn't do.)

--Did anyone close to you give birth?

nope.

--Did anyone close to you die?

my josiedog. i found some pictures of her in my regex book at work. she was a goof.

--What countries did you visit?

the united states. i did go to wisconsin, though. [weeps]

--What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?

okay, people, say it with me, a baby.

--What dates from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

um, none of them?

--What was your biggest achievement of the year?

with the help of my fabulous personal financial advisor, getting my finances somewhat in order. i mean, they're still appalling, but now they're lined up in little rows that i am gnawing at slowly.

--What was your biggest failure?

i don't know. i don't remember any big events (email me if you're going to remind me of some, okay? okay.). i do continue to struggle with remembering to be truthful and kind simultaneously.

--Did you suffer illness or injury?

same old illnesses. nothing new. i do not recall any injuries, which means now i should give up doing dishes for the rest of the year lest there be a horrible paring knife accident.

--What was the best thing you bought?

um. not a very materialistic year, i guess. i did get this-- http://www.etsy.com/transaction/38196190 which makes me happy.

--Whose behavior merited celebration?

everyone. that's my answer and i'm sticking to it.

--Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

congress.

--Where did most of your money go?

house, consumer debt, baby fund, food.

--What did you get really, really, really excited about?

well, the other day i almost hyperventilated because it's starting to seem as if there might be an *actual* baby in my future instead of a theoretical baby in a theoretical future.

--What song will always remind you of 2010?

dessa, alibi.

--Compared to this time last year, are you:

* happier or sadder?

happier.

* thinner or fatter?

just enough thinner so my pants fit strangely. dammit. (all congratulations on weight loss must be accompanied by money to buy new pants. seriously.)

* richer or poorer?

uh, richer? my 401k has more money in it, anyhow.

--What do you wish you'd done more of?

keeping my mouth shut.

--What do you wish you'd done less of?

keeping my mouth shut.

--How will you be spending Christmas?

weekend before, we went down to the juggler's parents house. on the 23rd and the 24th, we went to my parents. on christmas proper, we went to holy land in ne minneapolis and had some nice halal food for dinner. if they ask you if you want hot sauce on your food they really mean it. i'm just warning you. they also continue to have the best hummus ever.

--Did you fall in love in 2010?

nope.

--How many one-night stands?

uh. zero. i think.

--Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

well, i hated tom coburn last year, too, so probably not.

--What was the best book you read?

_the diary of a wombat_. although i'm about to read _llama llama mad at mama_.

--What was your greatest musical discovery?

dessa! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6j2A4Lb7RFo

--What did you want and get?

yarn. the same job. stability.

--What did you want and not get?

a baby. a phone call.

--What was your favorite film of this year?

uh. the only movie i saw in the theater was _from paris, with love_ which i was unable to utter any word other than "fuck!" in various cadences for about half an hour after. so, not favorite, really. just only.

--What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

i took the day off from work and took the dogs to petco. this is what i wanted to grow up for? hm. i'm thirty eight. i did have a party later in the year.

--What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

either a baby or a phone call. also, a lack of arbitrary limits.

--How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?

i am trying to challenge people less and fit more into traditional femininity, which is in fact related to things i'd like to have happen at work.

--What kept you sane?

celexa.

also, family, the juggler, friends, and pirate and josie.

--Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

no? characters, yes, real people, not until i find out if we can have a conversation together.

--What political issue stirred you the most?

if i only get to pick one, bodily autonomy.

--Who did you miss?

my aim is getting better!

okay, well. dead people. people i'm upset with. people who don't live near me.

--Who was the best new person you met?

it's not been a year for meeting people, to steal from [personal profile] rushthatspeaks.

--Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010:

i am in fact a terrifying space monkey.

--Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:

not sure this sums it up, but i sure sing it real loud every time it comes on.

you just brace and you breathe
you drive through the dust
you go through people and places
you hope the engine can take it
they get you up on the blocks on a regular basis
but innocence is over-rated
based on what you haven't done
I don't need a poker face
open book, smoking gun
renagade agent, I got no taste for their races
I run on whiskey and risk and ennui and impatience
