THE BUTT SHOT IS A LIE

since we last heard from our heroine, her lovely and charming aglet caught strep, started meds, got better, she returned to work but only for one day (dun dun dun), because she caught strep from her dear aglet, she had two days off of work too miserable to do anything, she returned to the clinic saying hey, what's up, and they said looks like the butt shot didn't fix you up, let's give you some horse pills to swallow on an extremely sore throat instead.

the horse pills are working. back to work with me tomorrow. i feel ten thousand percent better, which means just tired and a little sad, rather than too exhausted to stand up and miserable.

so! hurray for augmentin.

in other news, there are massive protests going on at a hotel i was recently in in guangzhou, china, because the japanese embassy is in the same building, and there is an island problem going on between china and japan right now. (i do not know details, but people are mad. i do not say this to minimize it; you should go google if you want an idea about what's going on.) they broke into the hotel, did some damage to the first two floors. whoa. the garden is the most beautiful hotel i have ever been in in my life. i expect it will be fine after some cleanup, but i'm glad we're not there right now!

tomorrow, i go pretend like i'm awake enough to be at work. i expect i will go to bed shortly after the aglet does, and then get up shortly before (so i can shower before he's up and at 'em). onwards!

hello internets!

the problem with not being able to be on the net at work is that it makes me not want to do it at home. you'd think i'd run in the door squeaking running for my computer, but no. i have things to do at home, and if i catch up on the internet, that'll take a million years, and then here we are, a long darned time since i posted last.

so! i've been reading, though.

the new job continues to go well. things are a little slow, but we're having a massive rollout very shortly, so this is apparently the calm before the storm. and i'm researching training i want to take, and updating documentation when i find out (usually the hard way) that it's not right.

last weekend was actually the first weekend of the renaissance festival, but it was also the wedding of some friends. so, we went to that on saturday night, and on sunday i slept late and the juggler went out to fest. today, the juggler went out to fest early, i slept in a little, and then went out to fest. i am now home, have had dinner, and am pretty beat. so, i will finish writing this and then off to bed.

the juggler is quite a bit moved in, so that's good. we do have spare things, however, so if you need or know anyone who needs (in the twin cities metro area, please!) a twin bed, a steamer trunk, a tall bookcase, a wacky retro table, or a few other things, let me know. i think we'd like $10 for each of those.

and last but certainly not least, plans for the family wedding are going well. the happy couple is taking care of all their parts, and the other bridesmaid and i are discussing shower/bachelorette party plans. i am trying to think of low key bachelorette things to do, but would love ideas by PVT EMAIL since the bride reads this. (hello, m. socks!) getting plastered and going to the 90's is probably not our speed.

i am now tired enough so my brain has entirely shut off. i will now go take meds and go to sleep. that is my plan which is mine.

well, then

so, as some of you may know, i was looking for a job this spring, and then i had one last interview that i thought had gone awfully, and i posted here on a filter saying that i was done looking for jobs for a while and was just going to stick where i was for another year if not longer.

can you hear the foreshadowing music?

they called me back, and offered me the job (i was very confused. i was like "hello guy from company! you're not going to hire me so i don't understand why you're calling me. it's very polite to blow me off in person, though", but fortunately i only thought those things not said them because then he offered me the job.)

i start on the 25th. anyone else work in hopkins? anyone else live in st paul and work in hopkins because boy am i not looking forward to the commute?

also, we got a new dog.

also also, my sister and her boyfriend got engaged.

so, july has been a busy month.

what's up with you?

working on being cheerful

she says, through gritted teeth.

holiday stress + no light + snow + work + still recovering from too many things at once this fall makes for a slightly cranky kal. thus, mandatory cheer.

pirate wore the christmas t-shirt she got for christmas for a week! then we took it off of her.

i have a juggler upstairs.

we have nye plans that sound like fun.

the days are getting longer already.

the juggler made tasty scrambled eggs for dinner. they were even pretty. mine are never pretty.

diet coke is still a quarter at work.

pirate goes "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehmph" when she chews on the hedgehog. very softly.

my life is mostly going the way i want it to go.

okay, that's all i got. what do you have?

so, tuesday.

working from home today; had a dentist appointment first thing, and then last thing i have a doctor's appointment.

went out for blini and caviar and vodka with [personal profile] dickens/[livejournal.com profile] hypatia_j (did that work?) and we conducted a scientific experiment on the effects of one martini on drinkers of different body weights. being that i mass somewhat more than she does, i drove.

i am feeling a need to change some of my passwords. those of you who work in information security, stop shrieking in horror; you're disturbing the neighbors. ;)

i keep being startled when i don't see josie. this morning, for instance, she hadn't just jumped off of the bed and was looking back at me ready to go down the stairs. i was positive she was going to be, but no.

have not yet broken out wailing at work, which is good, but i'm glad it's a short week.

two family thanksgivings this week, which will be good. taking the piratedog along to the one that is at a house instead of a restaurant.

the juggler and i are doing well. i mean, well enough that that's an understatement that i am unclear on how to untangle.

and now, back to work with me; i have to go yell at my coworkers some more.
