Date: 2011-02-01 10:34 pm (UTC)While I do not have chronic pain issues, I used to be an emergency caregiver for a friend of mine who literally could not get out of bed without heavy duty pain killers. It always made me less than happy when the doctors didn't want to prescribe the right stuff because "she might become addicted" when she was never going to get better and later died of her condition.

Overprescribed by whom? I can think of three conditions under which one can get the Good Drugs, and none of those are pleasant, fakable, or amenable to aspirin/acetominaphen.
