had a dream last night where i was trying to explain to someone about how i felt about being a woman in a technical job. first of all, i put up with a fair amount of sexist shit. second of all, i love my field, i love the tech, and mostly i like the people i work with. and whoever it was in the dream was having the usual amount of trouble understanding how those things could both be true.

oh man. i'm working on a group project in a programming class, and I have noticed that the men talk over me and ignore me. even though -- to be honest -- I'm one of the smartest people there IN the group. some of the others are openly ignorant of what we are doing but somehow being male gets them listened.

i feel that i need to learn how to manipulate men into seeing me as more than a piece of ass.
